Newborn Life

Mamas how are you guys doing today? Are you taking care of yourself? It's so easy to give your entire self and entire being to you and your loved ones and I get it. Dads working, babies need to be fed, house needs to be clean, groceries have to be done, dinner has to be done, etc etc etc.

But let me tell you something. You can NOT fill up another bucket if you don't fill yours. Let me repeat. You. May. Not. Fill. Up. Another. Bucket. If. YOU. DON'T. FILL. YOURS. That's right. Ask dad or a friend for 30 minutes a day to one hour to sleep, meditate, work out, go for a walk, go shopping, go online shopping, do your makeup, do your hair, get lunch by YOURSELF, listen to music silently in your bathroom or your closet...Because you know what? You are worth it. This goes for you too dad, you are BOTH worth having time to yourself to find yourself in all the chaos that can come with a newborn. Your mind and body can go through a tremendous amount of trauma, and I know this because I went through it. I went through two entire months of not leaving the house because I lived in fear that my baby might get sick, the house needed to be clean, I haven't cooked in two days, laundry was swallowing me up, etc etc etc. I was cooped up in my home because there was always something that needed to be done.

And this is why I had postpartum depression.

So from mother to mother, or mother to father....please take care of yourself. Single parent? I once read in amazing mommy groups that moms were trading babysitting services just so they can have their alone time! It can be done and it NEEDS to be done. Once you fill up your bucket enough, guess what happens? the water will OVERFLOW into your babies buckets, your husbands buckets, your family, pets, laundry that's been sitting there for a week.

What are some things you love doing but you felt you don't have "time" to do anymore?

My babies Jameson and William. I wanted to do this session for one of my oldest and best friends newborn twin boys and it was a straight dream. These babies are now almost 1 and I can't believe it. Thank you Nancee and Joe for letting me capture these beauties <3
